  Went for an early dinner around 5.30. Had to wait- pub closed from 3pm-6.30. Just like the old days.
  Food ordered was a fish pie and slow cooked lamb from the 'specials' board. Specifically asked what fish was in the pie - told it was cod, so ordered in anticipation. Lamb arrived like it was a school dinner, vegetables overdone to mush. Fish pie was dry, no cod but plenty of salmonid fish and and overload of boiled eggs to bulk up the dish. Good job I didn't have an egg allergy. Couldn't be eaten it was so bad. Presented with the same, aforementioned mutliated vegetables.
  To be fair, the apology was forthcoming, but the admission that the food was made elsewhere and heated up was a bit annoying, considering the prices were £12 -£15 per dish. A little cheeky I would say. The fish 'pie' was deleted from the bill. One of us carried on hungry.
  In my opinion, if a pub serves 'bar pub food' at restaurant prices and hope to get away with it then they they are being deliberately disingenuous. If you are charging £15 for a main course on the specials board then I would hope you are actually making it on the premises, not heating it up. Or I could just be terribly old fashioned.

  I really really like this pub. We had a cracking business breakfast meeting. I have a weird diet so I rang in advance and I had a fantastic breakfast. The staff are friendly, the food is good and the surroundings are brilliant. The chairs by the river are fab. Happy to bring my friends here.
